Cap visits a school assembly and they have him lead the pledge of allegiance but "under God" wasn't added until he went under the ice so he doesn't know that part so he doesn't say it and the next day all the headlines say "CAPTAIN AMERICA FORGETS GOD" and FoxNews freaks out.

#sometimes i wonder if bucky suspected that zola had altered him somehow #that in this moment he wasn’t fearing steve turning into an abomination like schmidt #but rather himself #that when he sees this man rip off his face to reveal the monster underneath #it chills him to the core because what if he became that monster #bucky feels factory (tags buckybarness)

                 (via radioactivesoup)

I feel like at this point in time Bucky isn’t thinking about much other than “what the ever loving fuck fuck” and “get me the fuck out of here” Sure he knows he was tortured and he’s definitely worried both for himself and Steve. And LATER, later when he actually knows whats going on, I’m sure he’ll be even MORE worried.

Why does fandom believe that Bucky thinks so lowly of himself? Post-TWS sure. But here? There’s nothing in the canon that I know of that would point to Bucky thinking he’s so awful he has a chance at becoming as horrible as the Red Skull.

I don’t disagree with all of this (I’d be concerned too, after spending some bonding time with Zola) but lets take it down a notch, fandom.
